FAQ

How do I get involved?

The best way to get involved with KSUIF is by coming to our monthly general member meetings, which occur the first Monday of every month at 8:30pm in Franklin 340. You can also come to our office in Franklin 221 and say hello, there’s usually always someone there to answer your questions! You can also sign up for our email list, which will give you updates on all KSUIF meetings, events, upcoming projects, fundraisers, and hiring opportunities within our board and film projects.

How does the pitching process work for potential projects?

To pitch a project to KSUIF, you can come into our office (Franklin 221) and speak to a member of the board currently working in the office where we will assist you in filling out your form or you can to go the Pitch Your Project tab here on the website and fill out the Pitch Your Project google form at the bottom of the page.

How do I become a crew member on a project?

To join the growing KSUIF crew, you must come to our website or office and pick up a crew member application, fill it out and turn it in. Once your applications have been reviewed, you will be invited to interview for a position. From there you can begin your filmmaking experience with us!

Can I join without any experience?

Yes you can! Everyone is welcome to join as a crew member to a KSUIF project. However, if you haven’t worked on a set before or haven’t taken any classes pertaining to film, we strongly recommend you take a few courses on Lynda.com to bring you up to speed. You can also attend one of the many workshops we hold throughout the school year. You can learn about specific film departments and positions, how to work equipment found in the Student Resource Lab, and learn about what steps are taken to make a film project. You can also visit our Resources page for links to help you better understand the production process before you jump into your first production!

What kind of stuff do you guys make?

KSUIF has made all kinds of media projects in the past. We have completed 5 feature films, an award-winning music video, documentaries, plenty of short films, and promotional materials from professional clients.  From live action to animation, we are always looking to make something new, fresh and exciting that students would be proud to use in their professional portfolios.

So you make films, but do you watch them?

Who doesn’t watch movies? KSUIF may be a film production organization, but we do also host movie nights! The film is of course chosen by you through social media, and there will also be snacks available. There is also a raffle at the end of each screening for a chance to win some cool prizes!

How can we keep in touch with you all?
